Areola Reduction

Areola, the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple, can be very large as to become disproportionate to the rest of the breast. This condition does not only look unappealing but can also be very distressing to the person with the condition. There are many causes for this condition. Some are naturally born with large areola; then there are also those with larger breasts which often also have larger areola. Finally, it tends to runs in the family. Areola reduction procedure involves excising the portion that is deemed too large. The procedure aims to reduce the size of the areola to a more proportional shape to the affected nipple and breast.
